Blue Peel - The Perfect Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

Blue Peel – The Perfect Skin Rejuvenation Treatment

When it comes to beautiful skin, the Obagi Blue Peel can give you a youthful look you thought belonged in days gone by. It can be difficult to find the right treatments for acne-prone, scarred or pigmented skin, but a high-quality chemical peel may be the answer for you.

It’s possible you’ve never heard of chemical peels, or you’re worried about what the procedure involves, but with a treatment like Obagi’s Blue Peel, you could soon have healthier and brighter skin.

This specialist peel can correct your skin concerns and get you feeling more like the real you. But what exactly is it? Here are all the details about the Blue Peel.

What Is Blue Peel?

This breakthrough treatment is a medical-grade chemical peel created and perfected by the skincare experts that are Obagi. You might be wondering what gives Blue Peel its name – well, it’s all in the distinctive, natural blue colour. It contains two active ingredients – Blue Base and Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) of between 20-30%.

The Blue Base is a key component because it contains elements which bind to the TCA and contain the peel’s blue hue.

The blue base means your practitioner can accurately control the depth of the peel, so you get the treatment that’s right for your specific skin issue in the right places.

TCA is a medical-grade chemical that is safe and effective when applied by a trained clinician. It works by penetrating past the outer dermis layer of skin into the underlying tissues where your problems may originate.

How Does Blue Peel Work?

How exactly does this treatment work on your skin? What should you expect during your treatment? And what kind of results can you expect?

Blue Peel exfoliates the top layers of your skin and is typically used on your face, penetrating deeper depending on the concentration of acid used. The TCA safely breaks down the cellular bonds within your skin, allowing the old, dull layers to peel away.

And because you can adjust the depth of the effect, this treatment is able to give you more impressive and noticeable results, getting rid of shallow wrinkles and lines that may knock your confidence.

Once the treatment is applied, your dull, old or damaged skin cells are shed over a short period of time, allowing for newer, healthier cells to take their place, including new collagen that gives you a youthful appearance overall.

While the chemical is working its magic on your wrinkles, it also unclogs your pores by destroying and removing dirt and grease build-up and rebalancing your skin tone by eliminating pigmentation or damage.

What Can Blue Peel Help With?

Blue Peel can rejuvenate your skin, remove problems in your top layers of the dermis and even prevent future issues from worsening or occurring altogether. This specialist skin peel effectively triggers the growth of healthy new cells, giving you a refreshed glow.

But what kind of problems can this treatment help you with? Blue Peel is an effective yet safe chemical, allowing it to target a range of common age and lifestyle-related skin complaints.

It can painlessly;

    • Smooth fine lines and wrinkles

    • Help even hyperpigmentation

    • Tighten large pores

    • Soften rough skin

    • Remove signs of sun damage

    • Tighten sagging skin

    • Reduce the appearance of acne scars

With a medium-depth chemical peel like the Blue Peel, you can expect to see fast but lasting results that leave you feeling great about your skin.

What’s The Blue Peel Process?

Step 1: Peel Is Applied

Your chemical peel is applied by a qualified clinician in layers. The blue colouring allows your clinician to carefully control the intensity of the treatment. Depending on the issue you need to treat, they may use more or fewer layers of the chemical.

You may feel a warmth and a tingling sensation as it’s applied as the peel starts to work on disrupting those problem cells.

Some people can find it a little uncomfortable but not painful, while others only feel the warming sensation as if holding a warm towel to their skin.

The peel will be on your skin for about 12 minutes, and the chemical and your skin reaction will be monitored.

Step 2: Peel Removal

Once the chemical has had the time it needs, we gently remove the product from your skin.

After the peel is removed, you’ll receive a deeply hydrating serum to finish your treatment.

Step 3: Aftercare

Following your procedure, your skin will peel for a few days afterwards. Do NOT pull at any areas – instead, simply let the skin flake off at its own rate.

Some people find a faint blue tint remains on their skin for a day or so, but this will disappear as the top layer of skin peels away.

Slight redness may remain for a few hours right after your treatment, but a cold compress will help if needed.

Do not wear make-up for 7 days, but ensure that you wear at least an SPF35 sunscreen at all times.

How Long Do The Results Last?

Blue Peel lasts 2 to 6 months, giving you a lasting, refreshed complexion and minimising the appearance of wrinkles, lines and pigmentation.

Your issue may require more than one application of the peel to achieve the results you’re hoping for, but this will be discussed in your consultation.
