What is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

The structure and function of the skin gradually deteriorate due to sun exposure, pollutants and the natural ageing process. Our Vjuve CO2 laser breaks down damaged skin while leaving healthy skin unharmed. Vjuve CO2 laser provides body and facial resurfacing. Numerous cosmetic issues can be addressed using our fractional CO2 laser such as pigmentation, lines and wrinkles and more.

How Does CO2 Laser Work?

A beam of light from the laser penetrates in skin cells, causing a fractional ablation of the skin’s outermost layer. This results in a particular kind of thermal injury that stimulates the underlying skin and causes collagen to develop. New skin begins to form after the skin heals following treatment.

What Can Be Treated?

What Happens During the Procedure?

After a full consultation, your practitioner will cleanse the skin and apply a numbing cream to make your procedure comfortable. Our CO2 laser will deliver energy that will create tiny white dots of heat that are penetrated into the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin. Immediately after your treatment you may experience redness and swelling. This will resolve after 2-3 days, after which your skin will peel away to leave fresher and healthier skin.

Results

As the treatment triggers collagen production, smoother and tighter skin is often visible after the peeling process. To maximise results, a good hydrating skincare routine is recommended, and SPF 30 is mandatory.

CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing FAQs

CO2 Laser Resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure that improves the appearance of the skin by addressing various concerns such as wrinkles, fine lines, scars, and uneven pigmentation.

CO2 laser resurfacing involves applying focused light beams from a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser onto the skin’s surface. Layer by layer, the laser carefully destroys layers of ageing or damaged skin.

CO2 laser resurfacing effectively treats wrinkles, scars, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, skin laxity, rough texture, enlarged pores and pigmentation.

A course of 3-5 treatments is usually recommended to achieve maximum results.

The results of CO2 laser resurfacing include smoother skin texture, reduction in wrinkles, scars, and pigmentation irregularities, tightened skin, and overall rejuvenation.
Although you may continue with your normal activities, you will experience redness and swelling for the first 3 days and then skin peeling for approx 7 days. There are other precautions and aftercare which must be followed. This will be discussed at your consultation.
After CO2 laser resurfacing, maintain proper wound care by keeping the treated area clean and moisturized with recommended products. Avoid sun exposure and follow post-procedure instructions provided. Application of SPF30 is mandatory.
